First thanks for the help with my turn signal wiring harness.
Now I am having one heck of a time getting the new fuel pump in and so I am wondering if there is a trick to compressing and holding the arm or getting the cam in a position where the arm does not need to be compressed so much.
I have tried to compress and get a bolt started but it's not working any help will be appreciated.
This generally isn't required, but if you want you can bump the motor over until the cam eccentric puts less pressure on the pump arm.
+1. Blip the starter. Might have to do it more than once to get it right. Also, check your engine code. Is it the original engine? My 460 in my '77 is out of a '70 Lincoln and has a different fuel pump. Most of the time I can order parts for mine with just the make and model of the truck. Fuel pump is different though.
Fuel pump may be different. Depends on the the motor was originally in. Sometimes they used a pump that went up, instead of down for more clearance for powersteering pump maybe?? either way, the motor is the same just different pump. This may be something to at least look into
