Well a few days ago my rear window broke and had to be replaced. $380 dollars installed in case you were wondering what they cost. I got a deal on a new GOV rear privacy glass window for government Excursions. Its darker then the Limo tint that was on it and clearer. The nice thing about it is that my rear dimming mirror works again.
OK, so after the install I noticed that the drivers side lower left corner of the window had been rubbing on the rear portion of the body. Is there an adjustment on the window frame some were that will allow me to slide the entire window frame over a 1/8 inch to the passenger side? That should about center the window and prevent it from hitting the body of the EX.
If you have done this before is it a 2 man job or can it be done by myself?
I would upload a pic but, I have not figured out how to do that yet.
The adjustment is in the hinge bolts. You need to loosen the bolts holding the hinge onto the body of the X and slide/lift the glass door up while tightening the bolts. It is a Heavy door so a helper is recommended. I have done it myself by it is heavy so a risk involved. Even if your helper just tightened bolts while you lift glass
So you have to have the lift gate up I am guessing to access the bolts right, then you just loosen them, slide the window over and re tighten. Does that sound about right? My wallet would shatter with my window if it broke. Want to make sure I get this right the first time.
Yes that right. If I remember correct I think I ever had to use a block of wood to just tap the hinge up a bit after I loosened bolt as the paint ridges might be holding it some.
