master cyl

I was wondering if the master cyl of my 81 one ton 4x4 wold fit on my 94 3/4 ton 4x4 cause I am junking the 81

Yes, Kinda...The difference is the bolt pattern. The older, cast iron, cylinders need to have the holes widened out to fit. They will work fine then. You will need to add the proportioning valve in the system and then you will have an old but better brake system. But. The piston will be smaller. An 86 1 ton, according to parts books, had the biggest piston for a cast iron dual chamber master cylinder. I changed my 94 over after I busted a line and it emptied all my fluid and I had no brakes. The older systems separated the front from the back. You lose a line in the back you still had front brakes. I think that was a bad change. Not very safe. I had a guy tell me in a brake class I had to go too a couple of years ago try to tell me that no master cylinder will empty over one line. They were still separated. I through the flag on that one. I can tell you a 94 3/4 ton Ford truck will, A 2000 Jeep Cherokee will. I am going to convert my wife's Jeep over the next time I am into her brakes that deep. She carries mail. Allot of brake repairs.
