friday was coming home from work, and the woman calls, her 04 expedition was shaking horribly bad at idle. been working on it ever since then till just finishing it up. started at the basics. check codes. got usual bank 1 and bank 2 lean o2 sensors etc and cylinder 1 misfire. started cheaply. changed fuel filter. bought some CRC MAF cleaner, worked great!!!! and cleaned the IAT also. nothing. proceeded to change cylinder one out. put new plug and new boot on the COP. still nothing. idle still surging badly. but would get it down the highway. was about to tear into EGR and top of intake to clean IAC, TBI, etc. took PCV out to check, was still good and cleaned anyways. followed the PCV line to back of upper intake. there was the infamous 5/8" elbow that notoriously collapses and breaks. today sunday so ford houses closed. went to my oreillys auto, bought a 5/8" elbow of heater hose. cut to size and that's all it took. what saved me from tearing into top of motor, was getting online and getting on site and searching. found several threads of same problem. i always find the best intel on my fords on this site.
