Ha, I drove a '53 5-window pickup as my first vehicle, through high school anyway. Really makes you appreciate electric windshield wipers.
Wish I knew what I had when I had it. I would have taken better care of it. If I had that old truck back, I would rip all that fuzzy purple stuff off the dash and headliner. I had the standard cab, not the 5 window. Good ole days.
Nice truck. Too bad you had to give it up.
Congradulations on the new Mustang !!!!!! Must be fun to drive.

Thanks, Ken!
I'll probably be getting another truck in a year or so. My previous setup had me driving my 2000 Contour to and from work every day and my expensive truck on the occasion that I needed it. I think I got that backwards for my use, as I just didn't need the truck that much anymore.
My wife is finishing her degree online, and she should be done in less than a year. At that point I'm going to see what kind of job she can get and then probably get another truck. But for my limited use I really don't need a brand-new $50,000 truck like my 2011. My plan is to eventually get a nice older V10 truck for the occasional times where I need the utility and keep the Mustang as my daily driver. This way I'm not driving my questionably reliable Contour every day and still paying for the expensive truck...that I rarley drive!
The thing was that I never really had to get rid of the truck, it was more of weighing my priorities. We're looking at getting a boat for this summer, and all of the ones we are likely to get are light enough for her Sienna to tow. So I started evaluating my priorities, and came to the conclustion that a boat that my family can enjoy is more important to me than my rarely-used truck. It was great to have and I was never disappointed with it, but a bit much for my needs.
And what's really tough right now is being stuck in Milwaukee on business driving my 2010 Malibu company car, with my 5.0L Mustang sitting back at the office. NOT cool!
Wow, I get busy and go away for a few weeks and miss all the excitement.
Congratulations on your new Mustang, Tom. And you even gained 12 HP on the rest of us. And congratulations on the expected other new addition.
I had a chance to drive an '11 Mustang GT for a week (last week, actually) and was pretty impressed. I'm just not that used to being that close to the ground anymore. I'd almost buy one myself except I can't really justify some of the current "fleet" we have, which still includes a now-rarely-driven C4 ZR-1 Vette left over from one of my earlier mid-life crises.

Man I would never tow a boat!!!!
Way too much time and effort. When I had mine. kept it at the marina and could be cruisin in 5 mins. Well worth it you will use it a lot more.

Yeah, when I was younger my parents had a dock for the boat. Certainly was much easier, but we have several different lakes around here that I'd like to use depending on circumstance, and the closest is 12 miles from me.
Don't know for sure yet, but we're probably going to put off the boat this summer. Just found out last week that we have a serious issue with her pregnancy, and we may have to travel to Philadelphia for her to have surgery. If we do this, she has to stay there until the baby is born in October, so all my summer plans are probably shot at this point. Which is completely fine, this is far more important!
Great looking Stang 5.0! I'm jealous!! I just hate states though that require the ugly license plates on the front of cars! Arizona doesn't which is great! Do you have to have the plate out front?
Thanks! Still addicted to the driver's seat! This thing attracts trouble, though. Just a half hour ago I had a young guy try and race me with (presumably) his grandfather's Caddy. I keep telling myself that I have nothing to prove, but at this stage it's really hard to resist the temptation!

Yeah, as far as I know Wisconsin requires it. Doesn't really bug me considering all the states I've lived in have the front license plate. Maybe in two years I'll get to move to a state without it!

Thanks, Mike. Not to drag things too off-topic, but looks like we'll be temporarily relocating to Philly at the end of the month. We found out that the baby has Spina Bifida, and this is the best possible way to mitigate the consequences of it. Tough to go through, but the Army has been far better than any other place I've worked in helping us deal with things.
