Just got home from a 800 mile round trip vacation, seems I've developed a miss or a tranny problem.
The truck runs/idles fine, shifts fine, everything is as normal. Except maybe 12 times while under a load, like climbing a hill, the truck would "bump" thats the only way I can describe it. I only noticed it in Drive/Overdrive.
I hoped I had water in the gas so I added gas treatment at 2 fillups, still seems to do it occassionally.
Any ideas where to start? I'm going to get a fuel filter today, the one thats on it only has about 12k on it
I hope for your sake all it is, is a coil going out. Read my post in the forum titled Engine Jumping. I had the exact same problem. I explain what all was done to the truck and after this post I'm going to do a final update on it.

I actually have read it.. pretty ridiculous, I would have lost my mind a while ago.. good luck
"Thanks, thats really what Im thinking too.
Any way to troubleshoot other than buy a new coilpack and move it around till it quits?"
The best way to test this is to move the coil pack and keep doing it till you find the one that moves. Of course that will only work if you have a scanner. Otherwise, I would say the only way would be to get a new one and move it around that way, but for what you will pay for an OEM Motorcraft coil pack your local dealer could prob scan it for you and tell you exactly which one or ones are bad.
Not nessessarly. I had two bad on mine and it never sent a code, even though it was running like crap. As a matter of fact, throughout my entire ordeal with my engine problems I never got a single code and it was so messed up that they had to replace the motor. SO dont rely on that light on the dash to tell you there is a problem.

I guess when its intermittant like mine it won't throw a code..
I pulled all the coils and checked the resistance. They all checked good. I figured they would
Does anybody know anything good or bad about the Global COP's on eBay?
Whole set for about $100
Feedback??
I really don't wanna pull the plugs, This whole plug break thing really pisses me off
I've NEVER taken a vehicle to a shop for repair, other than for tires, but I may let a shop do the plugs.. that burns my ***

Coil packs are like $50 at autozone. You can buy a hand held engine scanner for less than $100.
If there is no code then IMHO, your best option is to have the dealer run a diagnostic and tell you exactly what the issue is.
There was a thread just like over in in the Expedition Forum, the man had the exact same symptoms. No codes, thought his tranny was failing and finally took it to the dealer and viola, a failing coil.

I think the diagnostic is running about $90.00. Rockauto h as a variety of COP's to fit our vehicles ranging from $21.00 to $45.00 for the Motor Craft version.
I'm planning to change all 8 of mine when i do my plug change, I'm currently at 82K miles. I ain't even going to play with these SOB's. At the plug change, they're gone.
