What would you do in my shoes?
2.3 Turbos are fun but I got tired of incessantly dealing with turbo issues on my old Turbo Coupe...I could not get a turbo that wouldn't leak oil out of the turbine side and smoke at idle. I dealt with that smoking problem for a couple years...put a bunch of money & work into it doing a new turbo setup, mostly lost interest in the car due to all the issues and because I hadn't driven it in 2 years, and sold it. It was bittersweet, I have fond memories of the car but I guess I don't really miss it that much. I really want a V8 Mustang.
Aaaanyway...I'm trying to keep my truck around. It's not new, and it's not really the prettiest thing, but it's been reliable for the most part and it's a good truck. I spent $5000 on it almost 4 years ago, and excluding wear items I think I've only put about $1500 or so into it, mostly replacing stuff the PO neglected. I have put some money & work into it in the last 2 months- did all four ball joints, front u joints and some other stuff awhile back, spent about $300 in parts and my own labor. Also fixed the fenders, installed fender flares, and just over yesterday and today put in a new injection pump and injectors (which I had less maybe $300 in), and really hoping those will give me some more respectable mileage numbers than 13!
But, yeah, I understand the point of investing money into a vehicle you have rather than pitching one and getting another. Yes, if you're upgrading and can afford it, sure...and I can understand where problems can pile up to where it seems like it's not even worth trying to keep something on the road. Guess it kinda depends on your finances
