Grease Zerk Question

I greased up the front of the truck today. When I went to put the gun on the driver's side upper ball joint, the grease zerk sheared off. I bought a new 90 degree grease zerk and a tap. I will have enough room to work if I slide the axle assembly out of and leave the knuckle in place but I'm worried about the metal fragments.

I really want to avoid removing the ball joint, any suggestions??

Put some grease on the drill bit....the chips will stick to the drill....keep pulling it out and wiping the chips/grease off and put a bit more grease on it.

I'd try a small easy out first it should come out fairly easy. There should be a small hole in the middle to put it in to. Just be careful not to break it off.

Good call. I didn't even think of trying to use an easy out. Thanks for the tip.
