1999 F 150 Fuel Pump problems again

Last Dec. i had to install a new fuel pump, bought it at the Ford dealer because i had heard the after market pumps were not reliable. Well two days age the pump failed again. Pump is still under warranty but that don't take care of my time to replace. Is there any other pumps out their that are more reliable?

Is their a way to put a external back up pump on if so will they pull fuel through the in tank pump. You would probably need to pick up power for the external pump from the same wire that feeds the internal pump and run it through a separate switch. Or would it be better to just use a good external pump? I don;t understand why they put the pump in the tank to start with.

Is their anyone out there that has done this or had problems with factory pumps and are the pumps the dealer sell the same they use on the assembly line.

Thanks Don

Are you SURE its the pump?..the reason Im asking,is that most Fuel pumps will last the basic lifetime of the vehicle. It,s of course possible that you got a "bad" one,but being from Ford,I have my doubts.
Im not sure if its relevant here, but from what I have read on this forum, there is a Fuel Pump control module located basically on the rear axle,or near it.NOT a really good location!
Rumor has it that these modules are prone to corrosion, contamination etc,and will essentially "croak".
My suggestion is to locate the module(im sure someone here can tell you specifically where it is) and check it for corroded connectors, and other "nasty,s"

I am pertly sure it is the pump because i have a test lite mounted on the dash and i hooked the wire right to the wire at the pump that feeds the pump also i have a pres. Gage on the fuel rail. When it works properly when i turn the key on the lite comes about 2 seconds then goes out then when you crank & run the lite is on steady. Also i bench tested it and it does not run. Thanks for your reply Don
