the most ABSOLUTE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME IS THE SMOKER WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY OH WHY THEY GOT RID OF THEM ON THE NEWER TRUCKS I DONT KNOW...........i LOVE the soker windows (or vent windows for you non smokers) but, the best invention ever created!!!!
also love everything about my 92, except the terrible rust i have......wish i had the skills to do bodywork, but art is not my area of expertice, and drinking and using a ratchet is......lol well i love my truck, and want to preserve it forever,.....just wanna paint it black and add some chrome..and a tool box...can only fit so much behind the seat

EXACTLY NICK!.....It REALLY bugs me, when a ad comes out, downing our 15+yr old "Gas Guzzlers" because they don't have this an that doo hickey "To make the driving experience more pleasurable..."
Get real, its a simple TRIP, not SEX....I understand comforts, but TRUST me, power windows, heated seats, heated mirrors, etc are NOT needed....
My 1992 F-150 XL-Custom (Lowest base model available, ever...) doesn't have all those comforts, and I LOVE to be in the seat as much as possible...
I mean, the ONLY thing needed for comfort, is a cab, and lights.....Seats are optional..
Personally the newer junk isn't as rugged, and tried/true...Maybe its just me, but I see more and more of the newfangled truck breaking down everyday....Mainly due to driver error aka Stupidity.....But it is what it is...The newer stuff isn't meant to last 10/20 yrs....They are meant to last 5 years (Enough for the warranties to expire) then tear all to hell...
Rant over...

the 92-96 body styles are the best. they have character. i like my 94 f150 flareside w/302-5.0 aode. i just made 100,000 miles a few days ago. they just don't make'um like they used too. i recently went to a local ford dealership to look for a new flareside/stepside and let me tell you the new trucks sucked. the sales person was telling me that my truck was of no valve anymore and not worth anything cause it was more than 10 yrs old and not on the blue book for an amount of value and if i was too sell it i wouldn't get much for it. trying hard to make a sale. i told the sales person if they were too sell it on the lot and someone passed by that liked it they would make money off that truck and do i look like a fool to you. i was f**king pissed off that the sales person tried to play me for a fool and the sales person was a f**king jerk. i had to restrain myself from punching'um in the face. i told the sales person if you can go to ford and ask them to re-make the flaresides of the 90's i will be back to buy one from you and i left the lot. the new trucks just don't have the class and the style of the 90's era. i hope someone from ford reads this and someone does something about the body styles of these trucks and make the flareside/stepside actually look like one and not some rinky dink one on the sales lots of today.

I second everyone's post! Everyone captured exactly what I love about these trucks!
Another thing: I'm only 5' 10". In my newer Dodge I can't reach things in the bed thanks to 20" rims and the way the truck sits. As a result I have scratches along the side of the bed from belt buckles and the like.
My 95 F150 has 15 inch rims and sets to where I can reach into the center of the bed. Also makes jumping in and out of the bed easier.
And oh yes! Definitely Love the "vent window" as stated earlier!
My guess is they discontinued these because they are easy to break into?

i wasn't looking to trade in my flareside. i was just looking at what the new trucks had and i wasn't impressed at all. i am collecting parts here & there for my future rebuild of the entire truck. possible up grade of the motor to a 351 with a 40 over bore?? but, then again maybe not, just build up the 302 as there are lots of parts around for it anyways.
