EXACTLY NICK!.....It REALLY bugs me, when a ad comes out, downing our 15+yr old "Gas Guzzlers" because they don't have this an that doo hickey "To make the driving experience more pleasurable..."

Get real, its a simple TRIP, not SEX....I understand comforts, but TRUST me, power windows, heated seats, heated mirrors, etc are NOT needed....

My 1992 F-150 XL-Custom (Lowest base model available, ever...) doesn't have all those comforts, and I LOVE to be in the seat as much as possible...

I mean, the ONLY thing needed for comfort, is a cab, and lights.....Seats are optional..

Personally the newer junk isn't as rugged, and tried/true...Maybe its just me, but I see more and more of the newfangled truck breaking down everyday....Mainly due to driver error aka Stupidity.....But it is what it is...The newer stuff isn't meant to last 10/20 yrs....They are meant to last 5 years (Enough for the warranties to expire) then tear all to hell...

Rant over...

Ive been tempted to upgrade to a diesel but my 300-6 just keeps pulling, yes its slow and i gotta get a bit of a run on larger hills but it always gets me there and back. Even with a 4" lift and 33s it still gets 11-12 towing and 13-14 empty, not great but new stuff doesnt get much better and i havent had a truck payment in 5 years.

Maintenance is the biggest thing for me, plus the cheap parts.
Sure the 87-91 trucks aren't real pretty, but I slapped some nice rims and paint on mine and I get compliments on it every week.

IDK about you guys, but I think the generation of 150's after 97 are the ugliest Ford ever made

It's like somebody designed it as a joke, and it was accidentally sent into production.

The other thing that's amazing for me is, last I checked, you can't even BUY a stick on a new F150! I think you have to go F250 for that.

Another odd thing: I had to jump thru hoops to get a factory tach in an OEM cluster. I think ANY stick MUST have a tach, and yet the new A/T trucks have that standard.

Just my 2-bits.

So the 11th generation was apparently the last to have the 5-speed. I personally think that's enough reason to never buy a new one. Without a stick, I feel I've lost a significant degree of control over the operation of the truck.

I like the body style and the pure toughness of the truck itself, these trucks are bulletproof with proper maintenance

I mean you can manually control the transmission, you just dont have a clutch

my 94 was my first truck, so ill always love it, but i liked the body style most. it looked like a real truck, the late 80s looked too boxy, and the 10th gen were just garbage. my dad had a 98 and it was the worst ford hes ever owned. in 3 years he went through 2 transmissions and a rear end. and in 01 he switched to chevy. but the 92-96 are my favorite fords by far.
