When it shifts from 2nd to 3rd the engine rpm drops for a couple of seconds then shifts and revs up or the tranny feels like it goes into nuetral and the engine revs up then it shifts hard. Does anyone else have this problem?
Theres discussion on the tranny issues in both the 6.2 and 6.7 forums below. Ford has a flash for the computor that addresses this. You're not the only one with this. Check the forums below for some good info.
Check out the 2 threads below, they are both from the 6.2 forum.
I got my new flash last Tuesday and it seems to have taken care of the problem. After the flash the transmission goes back into learning mode again, just like when you bought the truck so don't expect great MPG's to start off. After about 60-75 miles it should be back to normal. That's about where I am at now and seems to be running better.
I have 2 on these transmissions in my fleet. 1 has shown this problem since delivery and has been to the dealer 6 times since November 10. The computer reflash has not helped it at all. Ford is supposed to be working on a better solution for this.
I don't believe this is a true tranny hardware problem. If so it would happen on a regular basis. It has to be a software or sensor issue. My local dealer has about a dozen vehicles waiting on the fix from Ford to arrive.
