Airbag warning light

I have an 03 F-250 gas V-8 and lately the airbag light has been flashing at me. At first it would flash for about ten minutes then would go away, now it will sometimes remain lit, flash or sometimes not illuminate at all. I've scanned it and nothing is reported. Has anybody had this problem or know a fix. I don't want to bring in the truck unless I absolutely need too.

The light should be blinking a code. It will blink a number of times, pause, then blink another number of times, then a longer pause. Report back the code and it will help diagnose the problem.

the wife's old SUV did that and it turned out to be a phone book under the driver seat had been putting pressure on the wire harness under the seat where it plugs together. I unplugged it, sprayed some electrical cleaner in the two halves, plugged it back in and all was fine.

The warning light is an indication of a problem in the restraint system. The only way to know what the problem is will be to read the code.

Not correcting the problem could cause any number of failures to occur in the case of an accident. Not fixing a broken restraint system is, in my mind, not a very smart thing to do.

Pretty simple problem with a simple fix. 9 times out of 10, the passenger side airbig off indicator light is burned out, which turns on the air bag light. The indicator should come on when you first turn on the ignition, then go off if the key switch is in the on position, or stay on if the switch is in the off position. It's a simple incandescent bulb that can be purchased at radio shack and replaced by soldering the new one in.
