Lemon laws should cover an engine as underpowered and fuel inefficient as the 6.8L V10.

If he were installing stock parts, and only replacing what has failed, the repair bill would be much less.

I was just thinking of something along these lines the other day. In light of the fact you have to spend pretty close to 50K to get something new to do what you can with an EX, wondering how effective it would be to drop 20-30K in a total refurb. Replace all wear parts on the drivetrain, new interior and paint. Would it hold up as well or better than a new truck?

Thanks for sharing the interesting pics.

Find us a v10 that is fuel efficient first... and they are not underpowered

Look at the GM 8.1 vs the Triton V10. If you have driven both, there is no comparison. And the 8.1 gets very similar MPG.

The 8.1 does have some giddy up, but they are no where near as common as the 6.8 V-10. The Dodge V-10 is a better motor than the Chevy 8.1, in my opinion.

When the Ex was new, my wife drove it while I drove the company 8l dodge 2500. We had a couple of chances to race 'em from a stop sign, side by side on a rural road. Honestly, neither was lightening fast, but I usually edged her out. ahh, sorry, what was the topic again?

From their site...
What is your warranty?
We offer a lifetime parts-only exchange-only warranty on our EGR coolers and a one-year parts-only warranty on our BulletProof Oil Cooler Kit. It's as simple as that.

Opinions are like cell phones, everybody has one.

I almost fainted the first time I saw it being done to an Excursion at my local Ford dealer. They were installing a brand new 6.0 PSD in it, under warranty. To this day, I still wonder if they got everything hooked back up right.

It looks like a lot, but it isn't that big of a deal to raise the body if you have a lift. The body flew onto the rolling chassis at the factory. Techs just take them back off to make their job easier. It's some electrical connectors, nuts and bolts, and some hose clamps, then watch it fly.

I had a body off stud job done a few years ago, and have had no associated problems. I towed my toy hauler to Yellowstone the week after it was done to mine. Not even a hiccup as I pulled +11K# over Teton Pass with a full load of people in the truck.

This has been beaten to death, v-10 verses 6.0, I own both, love both, th 6.0 delivers 22mpg over the same route at the same speed at the same time that the lighter and more areodynamic v-10/ 3.73/01 Excursion delivers 14.5 (both hand calculated over 450miles). We all know about spark plugs and EGR coolers so give it a rest already! If you want and can afford a built 6.0 I highly reccomend that you buy one, if not go with the v-10 if it suits you, different strokes (or v-10s) for different folks. I was interested in the bullet proof upgrades, and the body removal on the X.
