I am working on the stuck flattie in the F3 and as such have pulled the starter to be sure it is not the cause. When I crawled under I was surprised to see that the starter housing (that appears to be pressed into the bell housing) has rusted through. Is this replaceable, or will I need to find another bell housing? I will take a slew of pictures tonight and try to post them soon.
Thanks for your input.

don't know if you will find (just) the housing in any kind of shape to knock out and then re-install. maybe? check inside bell for mouse debris, nest, nuts, etc. pics will surely help.
What engine do you have in your truck? If it's a 215, I may have the part that you need. As suggested by petey shoes, pictures would greatly help to understand what exactly is needed.
Sorry about that....it's a 239 V8. It appears that the this may be a press fit "cap" installed into the cast housing?
I will attempt to post pics tomorrow.

Part # 6677? Usually called a cup, they can be pressed in and out. Surely someone's got one laying around, but they aren't critical to operation of the starter.
