I read that on one of the threads. Unless I misinterpreted the advice which wouldn't be the first time...It was either on this forum, or the towing one. Either way, I have been re-considering getting it done due to the potential 'can-of-worms' that may be opened.
The 'In-Service' date was 06/13/2006. I have a month left on the engine warranty from Ford. Let's hope i don't have to press it into service. As an update, I removed the EGR valve and it looked pretty good. There was some caked crap at the end of the valve, but the ports were clear and the valves and seats were clean. Just some light black soot. Nothing wet thank God. Either it was done very recently, or I have a clean machine...... I sprayed it down good with carb cleaner and made her shine. I have a MAP sensor on order from RockAuto, so I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed.
If your turbo is sticking and you wait, it is likely to be all on your own dime (instead of under warranty). I promise, that is the last I will say on overboost.
I appreciate the reply's. There's not much I can do since the fault code was cleared. If it happens again Bismic, it'll probably happen in New Hampshire next w\e. Then it's off to papa Ford for repair. One quick question for you....if the turbo was sticking, wouldn't it stick at other engine RPM's as well?
Mine did the same thing while towing 12000 pound trailer up a grade. Suddenly lost power and struggled up the hill. Once I made it to the top of the hill it regained power and ran fine. Never got the wrench light though, but performance symptoms were the same. Took her to the dealership and it turned out to be a clogged oil cooler/egr cooler. The engine defueled due to over temp from failed oil cooler. Both were replaced under warranty.
