key, cylinder alignment
Greetings! I have a 1987 F250 with a 6.9 Diesel. I'm having trouble aligning the key switch with the housing and the gears in the steering column. Last saturday the truck wouldn't start and I have had problems in the past with the ignition switch not starting the truck so I"m replacing everything in the steering column from the key switch down to the electrical switch down toward the bottom of the column. I pressed the pin down to remove the key switch but now am having trouble getting the key and tumbler back into the housing. Everything looks like it's lining up but something is holding the tumbler from going all the way to the bottom of the housing. The gear is free turning without the tumbler in the housing. BTW, the truck ran fine when I jumped the selnoid.

Ok, I got the key cylinder in place, now to get the pin on the horeshoe shaped linkage into the slot on the gear that the key cylinder has on the end. Sorry, I don't know the proper names
I see where they go but everything is so close that when you get almost ready to put the pin in the slot the horsehoe is inside the steering column. Do I remove the linkage from the column?
