96 F-250 wont go high idle.

It doesn't die in N or park. It only dies when in R or D when not pressing the gas. Only when it has started to roll when in gear and pedal not pushed yet. I have a freind who is a tranny expert who tells me if it was a torque conv problem, it would die violently, just like i dumped the clutch in a stardard. This thing dies gently, just like i turned the key off.

im not gonna say your friend isnt a tranny expert. . .but the torq converters in these things are pretty "lax", and the motors are pretty weak. . .all that bein said it could still be the torque converter. if it revs up fine in N and in P, and basically runs good once it gets movin, it sure as hell isnt a motor issue, so stop replacin parts! . . .what i can tell you is that its trans related. what i cant tell you, is how the trans communicates with the computer. my guess is the TC is bad. but someone who knows the auto for these trucks will help you out much better than i can in that aspect.

Did you ever resolve the 327 code problem? I see you replaced the EVP, but never saw where you stated that problem was resolved. A collapsed EGR diaphragm or weak spring can also cause that code.If the EGR is not operating properly it can cause what is essentially a vacuum leak. Which causes a high idle and driveability issues.

Bump, I disconnected the PCM connector. PITA! Cleaned it with contact cleaner and reassembled. The idle symptoms have somewhat corrected, now it tries to die in reverse or drive WITH a slightly abrupt lunge. Sometimes a couple of lunges. I doesn't die every time now, but still lunges and tries to die. Idle speed is OK now. I think I had several problems at once and have corrected the small ones and come down to the main problem of maybe a torque converter lock problem. I have seen people mention a switch. Is there something external i can check out, or is it all under (above) the pan?

I ran codes on my 94 Bronco and came up with 327 as well. I had swapped the bronco's EGR Pos Sensor onto truck thinking I was putting a known good part on it, but now i wonder... Could the Bronco part be not as bad as F250's but still setting code 327? And causing truck to die, but not Bronco? I'm confused again.

I let this truck sit for the last couple of weeks, and last night decided to run the codes again. KOEO got 111. Awesome, gotta be something way wrong when I do KOER. Got 111. What gives? Now the truck has no codes, but still is occasionally lurching from a stop and dying, or dying when i'm coasting to a stop. with or without brakes applied. I am still leaning towards transmission or torque convertor. After tune-up and vacuum line checks and everything else I checked out or replaced, it runs better but still has the dying. I'm about to make a tranny guy real happy unless someone else knows what may be going on.
