Tailgate Lock Photos

At one time I said I would post photos of the tailgate lock I bought. Okay, so that was a few months back.... I'm SORRY!

Anyways, here is what I bought. From www.McGard.com Prices range from $20 - $26. What I like about it is that there is a protective sleeve all the way around the metal band. Prevents the lock from digging into the paint and the lock is keyed (like wheel lug locks, they provide codes to replace the key).

Nice. It's a pain that you have to even worry about someone running off with your tailgate though...

Nice pics! I installed the same lock over the weekend. Tailgates 'walk away' very quickly and with amazing regularity in Southern California. It's good to have a back-up lock in case I forget to lock the tailgate.

It is... Out east it is harder to hang horse thiefs or even the ones that just steal the saddle (tail gate).

He's talking about the one that goes around the hinge so people can not run away with the whole tailgate if it were to be left unlocked at the handle

They do but not all remember to lock the tailgate and this lock is extra protection against theft.

That looks good,I just used a hose clamp on mine. They can still get it with a screwdriver but its gonna take alittle time and effort.

You know, there's another benefit to these beyond just the theft deterrent. I had my tailgate pop off the pin when I was driving with the tailgate down. All it takes is a good bounce with the tailgate down and it can come right off. All of these solutions including the hose clamp would prevent that. Just throwing that out there... I think I'm going to get one for the side benefit.

I hadn't thought about that scenario but it sure can happen.
