aftermarket issues

I am not very educated with audio system installs, I can do a basic head unit install. I have moslty Apline equipment except for my subs wich are jl audio. the head unit is alpine iva w505 with 3 amps.
So my prob is a clicking and popping noise and sometimes i loose all volume or i just get white noise. It happens wether im in tuner, cd, mp3, dvd, dosent matter. All the equipment looks like it was professionally installed (i bought the truck used so not to sure who did the install). it seems to get worse as it gets warmer, in the winter the clicking/popping would happen roughly once a month with no sound loss. Now the clicking popping happens every 20 mins or so and loss of sound about once a week.
Any advice would be great thanks

Sounds like a ground loop to me.

You're gonna need to check all the grounds. The head unit, any processors you may have and each individual amp.

Make sure the head unit has its black ground wire bolted to metal somewhere, not connected to the trucks' wiring harness ground.

Check to make sure each amp is grounded to bare metal, near the amp. Generally less then 3 ft is what you want. Make sure the cables don't have any shorts.

It could definitely be something else but that is where I would start.

Do you have any other info on the system? When it was installed, who did it, whether or not it ever worked correctly?

Yep check all the grounds. Take them loose & polish where they make contact. I use a wire brush in a drill. Check your rca cables to make sure the metal on the ends isn't touching metal of your truck. I tape mine up to cover any exposed metal.

also i forgot to mention the head unit has a reset button. When i loose sound i reset the unit wait a few seconds power it back up and sound comes back. Whereas if i just power the unit down and wait then power up again sometimes it works but mostly not.
