my dad my little bro and me went to a bne yard today.
guy had alot of old souls resting.
novas, mustangs, cadiallacs, trucks, vans, thunderbirds, ect.
the cabs i was looking for had the floors rotted out.
but that guy had every kind of old car you can think of.
even had those volteswagen bugs.
the old ones.
k........i think im done being wound up.
there was a flat head 8 and a 6.
there was real good gas tanks.
beds were rusted but fixable.
fenders needed some work.
everyone had frames drive shafts doors rear ends.
then he had a 5? tow truck.
with the flat 8 that ran.
im gonna call him up on monday and see if can get ahold of it.
winch works everything looked pretty nice besides the fenders had a few holes.
k, im done for now.
still blown away from all the old soulsthat are hidden and no one can see them unless you go over the hill.
o yeah he even had old tractors.
k im done now for sure.
it is up here in toledo ohio.
near the toledo airport.
there was all kind of years.
this guy has everything.
if you cant find it then you dont belong in the mechanics side.
there was 2 other yards but they dont got any older stuff anymore.
guy also said the larger yards crush the older cars.
if there is any kind of junk yards around you, i think you should check them out before you are to late.
i got the number if someone would like it.
its called HOG HEAVEN.
this guy has a clean yard where you can drive up and down the straight rows almost 3 cars wide.
he knew what he was doing.
Shoot, that yard is almost close enough to make make the drive for me... I could be there in less than about 5 hours one way.... hmm, plus I gotta make a trip down that way mid May.
Swanny, did you notice any 48 to 52 short boxes with "decent" rear fenders and a tailgate? might be a place for me scrounge parts for my new box idea. Any idea what his prices were like?
Hmm, think I might also have to check a few yards here in state, I know of one just north of the Michigan/Ohio state line along US 23 (think its around the "blissfield" exit) that had a bunch of older stuff sitting around.. but haven't had a chance to see whats in it, but you can see it along the west side of the interstate.
Guess I need to do some roaming this spring once schools out.
the rear fenders were in rough sape.
the fronts were in decent shape.
then boxes had a few holes but were work able.
i seen acouple of tailgates but they had some rust spots.
i know what yard your talking about.
i wanna go up there because they got an old grain truck sitting in the back with some good sheet metal.
atleast what i can see driving by it.
they also have some other trucks laying around.
i was gonna see if i can make a trip to that yard next weekend.
Hye swanny, you know I think I noticed that exact same truck... looks like a 51-52 F-4 or larger..... if they have that I wonder what else is in there. If you have a chance to go, let me know what you find
That boneyard is just north of the Blissfield exit.
Only thing is the owner will not let you wander the yard without him.
I've driven that road many times and have seen a couple of old Ford setting there.
Looks like there might be a 51 & 57 pickup.
One of these days i will take my binoculers (sp) with me and get a real good look.
Tough seeing whats there as it's in the woods and nothing is organized.
i called that guy about the 52 tow truck.
he wants 1500 for it.
everything works.
new clutch parts.
he is gonna look for the title tonight.
he said he will sell it to me if i keep it away from the crusher.
he cant stand seeing old cars smashed.
i cant either.
on the rebuilt flathead 8 there i less then 20 hours on it since it was built 6 or 7 years ago.
i think it is a steal my self.
Rebell, that sounds like a nice find you got and a mighty fair price! I totally agree about crushing old cars, there's no need for it. Let me know when you go back if you see any 57-60's.
Hmm, swanny, sure sounds like a guy I'd wanna deal with, and in all honesty I might just have to make a trip down that way come this summer when I have a little extra time and some cash. I'll probably have to get directions from ya once I get closer to a time I'd be down... might be a place for me to track down the last few parts (a box) I need to actually have a complete truck.
