will a 70's model np205 that was mated behind a np435 tranny mate up to my np435 tranny that came with a np208? what are the low range gear ratio differences in these 2 x-cases? is the 208 really that much weaker? i have a 1981 f-150 with a 300-i6

As far as the 208 being weaker, it's my opinion that it is. It's a chain drive unit as opposed to a solid gear drive and chains are usually weaker than gears.

However, that dosen't mean it's a bad t-case. My brother has a 208 in his GM 4x4 and he's never had problems with it.
