Hey guys,
I got a 96 F-150 MAF sensor off a 4.9L I6 for $5... Figure I would chance it for the $5 that it might work on my 5.8L when I convert to MAF... Would it be big enough? I have everything from throttle body to the air filter box... Just wondering if it would work... I was thinking it might not be big enough but didn't know...
Do you know what size the maf is? The eec is calibrated for the specific maf on the truck....ie...mass airflow transfer corresponds with the maf for that particular application.

For best results you have to use the matching Mustang MAF.. but if you add a tuner you can then use any sensor you like as long as you can find the transfer function for it.

Pretty much unless you want to invest in equipment and want to learn how to tune.
I see Paul has answered...but just getting around to checking post today.
As Paul states you can tune any sensor with the right equipment...and you don't necessarily need the transfer function if you have a wideband and a datalogger to tune with.....but it gives the best starting point if you have the transfer function for it.
