pliers, and i think 10mm socket, extention and ratchet. just drain coolant, remove hose, unbolt and bolt new one in. reconnect hose, refill coolant and check for leaks while runnin

I have an 04 and did not have to remove my fuel line. I did disconnect the MAP sensor line (looks like a fuel line) from the drivers side exhaust manifold. The sensor is on the bracket that sits on top of the studs that bolt down on thermostat housing. I also removed the CAC tube and air filter housing just to have more room. Standard tools and a good size set of pliers to disconnect the radiator hose.

Thats the EBP sensor not the MAP.
Anyhoo, i just changed the T/stat on my 04 and it was a humbling experience
I was able to do it with out having to remove the fuel line. About 5" below the T/stat housing is a 10mm bolt that holds the fuel lines to the head. Take that bolt out and you can wiggle the lines a little bit.
Remove EBP sensor and clean it out if its full of carbon. I had to shoot some liquid wrench on the outer threads before i could get it off .
The outside 13mm nut of the T/stat housing is cake. The other one is NOT.
Removing the fuel line will give you more room but if you keep at it you can do it as is.

I also had the EBP bracket, but the fuel line had a bend in it that actually
blocked getting the nut off the stud on the t-stat bracket.

I did remove the fuel line from the fuel filter housing.
I also just loosened (I didn't remove it) the bolt that
holds the fuel lines to the block as mentioned above and
that allowed me to wiggle/turn the fuel
line so it was not in contact with the stud.

I found a "wobble" extension allows the socket to
be about 10-15* angled it really helped to get the deep socket
onto the nut on the t-stat housing stud since it's kind of tight
in there.

I've seen a picture on FTE which shows the problem "some" of us have
with that fuel line being in the way.

All-in-all not very tough - just remember to tighten the fuel line bolt again!

My bad on confusing the sensors! That's what happens when you work graveyard and post something when you haven't slept in a day. Anyway, my 04 I didn't have to remove or loosen the fuel line. The stud closest to it is tight once it is backed up towards the fuel line, but it will come out without any problems.

If I take the fuel lines loose I would have to reprime it like I changed the fuel filters correct?

The fuel line that is in the way (for some of us) is the fuel return line. So technically you wouldn't need to re-prime the fuel system.

It wouldn't hurt though. You never can be too careful.
