Useless POS Nav unit

Hey guys,
My 2008 with nav doesnt like to work much, I bought truck in late october and all throughout winter it would never work on the first start of day, but after truck warmed up it would work just fine.
Now ive probably seen it work once in the last week or so...I tap the "I agree" button, shows map then goes to this screen and stays;

Had it at ford a couple months ago, they said they cleaned it and it works fine...Im now out of warranty and wont be going back there! Anyone else having similar issues?
Thanks, Clayton

oh, and the nav disc always gets jammed when I try to eject it..Awesome!

Sounds like it's time for something new. I wouldn't even bother with it.

Time for a new Map Disc.
I had the same thing happen to me on my F150. Same message, would take the disc out, clean it, put it back in, would work for a few days, then the message would appear again. Ending up buying a new updated disc 8P and never had the message come back. I think the disc wears out over time.

Also make sure the disc you buy is not a copy but an original, I heard people were having problems with the "burnt" copies.

I will be keeping the HU in the truck stock for a good while most likely, not interested in swapping.

Worth a try! Thanks Matt, when I bought truck there was no disc in it (the PO never used the nav) so they (dealer ppl) went and took a disc out of another truck, I think she said it was a new 2011 truck but could be mistaken.
How much is a nav disc worth do you remember?
Thanks again!

Longview1,
Take the disc out and see what version it is ( ie. 4P, 6P, 8P...) That will tell you roughly how old it is and what version you should get. If it's version 6P you will want to get a 6P or newer. You can search fleabay, they go for about $100 and up for a new unopened original one.
Good luck

Matt

Thanks Matt,
I took it out yesterday, wiped it and put back in this morning. Working again so far.
I think it was 6P, I will check again and check around for a new one!

Clayton.

Longview,
had similar issue with mine. I took out nav disc, burned a copy onto another disc, and been using it for 2 yrs now. You will probably need dual layer dvd

Longview,

you may want to look at this link. it allows you to program your gps to use the functions while the truck is moving.
