Looking at a schematic I thought they matched, but looking at the actually harness plugs has stopping in my tracks. I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I pulled both wire harnesses out and compared them. The big plug(not the pcm connector) at the beginning of the engine harness that has 42 possible wire connections do not match. The SD engine harness only had one wire that the MAF harness did not ( wire # 6). The MAF harness has 7 wires that the SD does NOT. The wire numbers that the MAF has and the SD does not is as follows:
11
14
15
21
32
33
35
The pin numbers that I listed are not from the pcm. They are from the plug at the beginning of the engine harness. On the plug, on the engine harness (not the pcm), each pin the MAF engine harness has that my SD engine harness does NOT have is the following:
11 = fuel injector #5
14 = fuel injector #6
15 = knock sensor
21 = fuel injector #7
32 = fuel injector #3
33 = fuel injector #4
Do I need to add pins to the pcm connector for each one of these that is missing? If so I need a schematic of the new computer I have with labels for each pin. Am I correct? I have to add pins to the pcm connector for the MAF sensor anyway, so this just adds a little more to that task.
I am going to use ford fuel injection.com for pinout IDs. I will add wires to the pinouts in the pcm, then connect the new wires to the engine harness and MAF sensor accordingly. Any words of advice will be greatly appreciated.
Why does injector #8 have no wire for circuit 562 on my MAF engine harness. Actually my SD engine harness does not have an injector #8 wire either.
On the 101 connection it is wire number 34. Neither MAF nor my SD engine harness have wire 34 (circuit 562). Its wire 34 on the 101 connector and wire 14 on the pcm (circuit 562 on both)
Do I need to jump out the knock sensor connector. The 5.0 has a knock sensor and the 5.8 does not.
Does anybody have the MAF sensor schematics to the pcm?
Here are the PIN outs I have questions about. Do I pull the pin outs from the sd harness and place them in the correct pinout for the maf?
For example:
pull 9 and place it in slot 19
pull 11 and place it in slot 34
pull 28 and place it in slot 18
pull 29 and place it slot 44
What do I do with pin 49 and 51? The HEGO GND and TAB wires do not have a place to go in the MAF pcm?
SD PCM PINOUT............. MAF PCM PINOUT
9 = Data Bus - .................... MAF-RTN
11 = TAD ............................ CANP
18 = ................................... Data Bus +
19 = .................................... Data Bus -
28 = Data Bus+
29 = HEGO
34 = .................................... TAD
44 = .................................... HEGO
45 = MAP
49 = HEGO GND
51 = TAB

Reason: spacing needed table format would be nice
Yes you have to move those pins, My chiltons manual shows the TAB and TAD on pins 31 and 34 of the EEC which works out after you move the CANP wire, and the O2 sensor is grounded to the chassis. The knock sensor you can just leave disconnected as in don't even plug in the sensor just leave the connector hanging.
So I can ground pin number 49 to the chassis and it will be ok? The computer, harness mods, MAF install, and pin/wire re-configure are complete (except pin/wire 49). It's starts and runs..... Only tested once so far. So chassis ground 49, correct?
Ford Fuel Injection .com does not cover this pin 49 from what I can see either. I was wanting to put it all together today. Will it hurt anything if I ground it out. Check Engine light already on (I have not check the codes yet).
My truck originally was a 302 MAF/4r70w/3:31
Now its a 351W/4r70w/4:10
Im using the 302s computer to control the 351 and 4r70w. Do you think i am exceeding its capabilitys with this setup, changing both cid and gear ratios? Reason I ask is im having some issues w/ both engine and trans that only showed up after the engine swap
The Air temp sensor is installed on the airbox, but I need the wiring diagram to show me were the Air Temp sensor ties in. I don't know were to put the Air Temp Sensor wires.
Blue Rebel, The CID change should not be a problem for the computer swap. You kept every thing MAF, correct? I don't think the gear ratio is a problem either, but I am not sure. I am actually using a 302 MAF computer on my 351w SD to MAF conversion.
Things to look out for: are both 4r70w electronic (AOD-E), Did you swap out engine harnesses or keep the 302 engine harness on the 351w, is your 302 computer an obd2 or obd 1, what did you do for you knock sensor.....
