unknown problem

i have a 6.0 in a 2003 f-350 with automatic trans. that when started for the first time of the day will run for probably 30 minutes without issue then die. if i am traveling at highway speeds i can turn off the ignition while still in gear and then turn ignition back on and truck will pick back up and run but only for short period at a time. if it parked it will run for a short period thirty seconds to a mnute then die but can be restart5ed immeadiately if you turn off ignition then restart. shows no codes no check engine light. no hiccup or hesitation just dies as if key turned off.

Check the FICM. Procedure in the Tech Folder. Also assuming you have kept up with regular maintenance...filters?

Sounds like it could be a chafed wire harness. Try shifting it around and holding it away from the engine to see if it will run longer. Did it start out slowly and get worse?

sounds like a chaff wire or loose connector somewhere

have you checked battery cables alternator wiring and the grounds

check the fan clutch wiring harness at the fan shroud
mine was digging in to the fan shroud hard

make shure FICM connectors are fulley plugged in

i have gone through harnes and connections. the truck will start and run for 30 minutes then die but you can restart it immeadiately at which time it will only run for a short period but you can still restart it right away.

start unhooking v-ref sensors and road testing. do them one at a time.
if that gets you nowere then unhook one injector at a time.

found the problem was the FICM but wasnt showing as they usually do. no voltage drop or wavering would just go out all at once.

Thats great glad you found it :-

The scangaugeII has
FMP = 48volt
FLP = 12 volt
FVP = 12volt

you may want to check the harness if you lost one of these other 12 volt ones
