I have a 99 psd and just got done installing a Diablo Delta Chip, 4" exhaust and AFE intake, and pyro. Last night I was pulling a hill in 6th gear and saw 980 degrees F. I took my foot out of it in feer that my engine was going to melt. My pyro is mounted on the down pipe so I know their is going to be some temperature inacuracy. What is a safe temp with the location of my pyro?
Second question is, I know most chip makers recomend that you let off the gas before switching between performance programs. Is this required for the Delta Chip?
Thanks
Props to this web site I couldn't live without it.

I've heard a rough estimate that a pyro with the probe downstream from the turbo will give a reading that is approximately 300* lower than one mounted upstream, so if that's true, 980* was a good time to back out. You ought to remount the probe pre-turbo, and take out the guesswork.
I've never heard that you're supposed to back out of the throttle before switching programs. There isn't that much of a difference between the different power levels for that to be necessary.
That is, of course, only my opinion. I'd be anxious to hear what the webmaster has to say on the subject.
