I've had many 6x8 speakers in my Ford trucks over the years (Kicker, Pioneer, Alpine..etc..). I just recently installed a set of Infinity Kappa 682.9cf 6x8's in my 2010 F150 front and rear. They have an excellent DB Sensitivity of 94 and the Frequency Response is rated at 40hz-25,000hz. They have built in crossover dongle that makes wiring a breeze. They are by far the best sounding 6x8's I've ever heard being powered off my factory head unit. If I wanted to add a small amp, they handle 100 watts rms and 300 watts peak. They are a bit on the pricey side for a set but well worth it. If I hadn't decided to get these I would have got the Polk Audio MM571 speakers. The Polk's have a little better Freq. Response (38hz-25,000hz) but they were rated at only 92 DB. When selecting a good high and mid range replacement speaker, the higher DB rating is more important IMO. Check these Infinity's out.

not tring to be a thread high jacker, just figured I keep it in this post since its related to new speakers. I used a add a fuse for the remote turn on...but I am getting some crazy feedback now when the lights are dimming on and off. The pitch changes, from low to high when the lights go on and then from high to low when they go off(only happens when they dim). I have to admit, this is probably the most irritating install that I have done...and that's pretty bad being that I didn't even replace the head unit. So far I got the fierce car audio 2ch line out converters (two for both front and rear, which was the only thing I could find at best buy), Polk db6500 6-1/2" components, and some Sony 6x8 from my other truck. I am stumped on what is causing this...

For you 2010 owners what sound system comes in the Lariat? It sounds as good as my Kenwood set up in the 2003 PSD I drive and cranking it up sounds nice, no sonic strain at all....

Thanks.....C-man...

Somebody mentioned that it might depend on what kind of quality input you have... but it doesn't. The radio sounds just as bad as the Ipod.

I can't believe I can't have the stereo turned up over 33% before serious distortion takes place.

The bass line is just pitiful.

I don't want to replace the head unit, either, I like things to stay looking factory - just my own agenda. Same with exhaust - I want my after market exhaust to replicate the factory exhaust.

But I can't put in after market exhaust until I fix the sound... I really won't be able to hear anything with the windows down.

I think I'll end up going with all after market speakers and putting a small 8" sub under the back seat - give me a unit to place the amp, too - there is no place to hide anything in the super crew. I don't want to "boom-boom-booom" down the road but even "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" requires some bass and right now my bass is turned on the negative side by 4 notches. So sad.

I have a new 2015 F150 SCREW with non-Sony stereo + Voice activated NAV. I was not happy with the overall sound quality, so I played with the treble and midrange levels and then added a Kicker Hideaway 8" sub and the sound quality greatly improved. My question is this: If I replace the factory door speakers with high sensitivity Polk DB 691's & DB 651S's without adding any amp being solely dependent on the head unit's power output, will I clearly hear a real difference in sound quality or not over the factory speakers? Since the Polk's are rated @ 93 db & 92 db respectively, I figured they would work fine even @ 25W or so output, but since I am not an audio professional, I would truly appreciate any and all input. I got what I believe is a good deal on the new speakers if I want them, $85 for the DB 691's & $65 for the 651S's! Thanks in advance for your help. Jeff

Jeff,
I just replaced my factory speakers and tweeters with a set of Pioneer components. I will say you should here a big difference with the tweeters in particular. But a good overall upgrade too. I then added a small Kenwood 400 watt amp and there is a huge difference. For one I only have the sound level about half of what it was before. And the sound is sooo much better. When I finally got my 10" sub and amp hooked up too, it was gŕeat. Now Ireally enjoy the system. Only cost me about $325 on amazon too.

I can't say enough about the Ford Kicker upgrade that you can get from a few dealers online for under $400 shipped. I bought mine from Rogel Ford and for the money and ease of install since it is PNP is well worth the cost. The OP didn't want a sub but this kit comes with a one and it is worth it. Everything uses factory mounting locations. You get all new door speakers as well. It won't win any sound competitions but if you want to keep the factory look this setup delivers.
