First scratch.

I skip the scratches and go straight to dents, nothing near the OP though. No pics but details below...
Dent #1: Hit a snow burried 18" tall concrete post in a parking lot while on a beer run. Damaged only the bumper on the passenger side. I'm debating on pounding it out, get the bumper line-x'ed and buy a black XL grille/surround and black out the truck.
Dent #2: While unloading my atv out of the back of my truck, I swung the tie down over the bed rail, didn't have enough slack in it and the metal end of the tie down left a nice straight lined ding right above the driver side wheel well. Probably won't fix, not very noticeable...

Ouch, that'll make your heart sink.
Stone chip 30 miles from the dealer on pickup.
2 weeks ago while trying out my new 5th wheel hitch I forgot to release the lock pin.
This pin allows the latch to lock once engaged. New procedure for me.
As I did my hitch test (applying the trailer brakes) I didn't pay attention to how much I moved forward. There was no trailer drop because I keep the jacks down for that test.
Fortunately all I damaged was teh top plastic cover on the tailgate step. Only $40 but no one keeps that in stock - and there are two different numbers fo r2011's

Ouch. The first one always hurts, especially that soon off the dealer's lot.
My condolences, although it makes me feel a tad better about the damage a hit-and-run driver did to mine back in January:
Yeah, I know, it's nowhere near as bad as your tailgate, but it's right there where I see it everytime I get in/out of the truck, and I'm a whiner anyway.
Note though, how the perp managed to carry the scratch and dent onto the cab, and even a scratch on the door for maximum effect and cost of repair.
And yeah, I spilled diesel purposely, in an effort to hide the damage.

A few weeks ago I was backing up my truck into the garage which is a very tight squeeze. I hit a dry wall corner with the rear driver side bed of truck. There was a white spot about three inches in diameter on my paint. Most of it came off but I still felt terrible. I waxed my truck this weekend and now you cannot see any damage at all. Take your time when backing a $50K truck!

Beats the estimate for the scratch and dent repair on mine (including repainting the whole freakin' rear quarter of the truck) by almost a grand (and that was the low estimate), even though yours looks a lot worse.

OUCH! thats a $700 mistake.
See that's what you get for towing before the 1000 mile break in
I've got the Tuxedo Black paint and have learned that it's a pretty tender paint. Scratches and chips very easily. I had a cat that liked to sit on the warm hood. As she jumped up, she would scramble with her hind legs and it's left a bunch of scratchs on the side of the front fender.

There is some history with the body shop. My 05 HD edition got stolen from my driveway and recovered in Mexico. It came back relatively unscathed except there were scratches and dents everywhere. He billed my insurance almost 12K to fix it and replace my hitch. He made his chunk of change off me.
He hooked me up with his Ford parts guy who gave me the gate at wholesale minus and is going to have his body guy paint it off the clock and I will pay him $200 cash.
