ProComp's 4" lift kit?

Im looking to get rid of the dash jarring mushy front suspension that came with our 2000 X.
I have seen the 4" kit form ProComp and think that this ones for me...still want it to fit the X in the garage ya know.
Anyone else "sightly" lift their X yet?
Good results or a no no?

A "Slight" lift is getting a bigger set of <a href="http://service.bfast.com/bfast/click?bfmid=37919709&siteid=39251846">tires </a>!

ProComp's 4" lift kit?

I just installed an Explorer Pro Comp 4" kit on my 2001 PSD Excursion 4x4. The kit installed very easily, but I have a slight driveline vibration that I'll have to isolate and the rear sits about 1-1 1/2 inches lower than the front. Your post has motivated me to give them a ring in the AM and see what they have to say. Probably will go with 5" blocks in the back to level it out.

Scott,

When you say that you are going to add a 5" block to the rear. Do you mean to stack them with the stock blocks or replace the stock blocks?

ProComp's 4" lift kit?

Hey Skygod,

I thought that alot of these lift companys stack there blocks under the factory blocks?
In your profile you have a EX with a 6" lift. How did you set yours up? What brand did you go with and how do you like the ride? I would love to see some pics if you got them. I'm asking all these questions, because I am close to ordering my lift but I can't decide which brand and how much lift I want. I would really love to run the new 36x14x16 Truxus STS's I like the wide look.

ProComp's 4" lift kit?

ProComp's basic kit is "el cheapo". Good starter kit that will allow you to find out what you don't like. I started with one and found I had problems with bump steering, dragging springs (meaning they rubbed on each other, slowing the action down and eventually sqeaking). I eventually dumped the rear leafs for Fabtechs 5.5"ers (no blocks), and replaced the track arm brackets with Liftmaster hardware, then out went the ex3000 shocks for Rancho 9000's. Sorry, no pics yet. Someday....

ProComp's 4" lift kit?

I had another 1.5" of lift added to the rear to level out the body (replacing the block from the Explorer Pro Comp kit). The driveline vibration diminished, but didn't disappear.

I also upgraded to Weld Evo wheels (17x10) and BFG 35's from a Hummer (great source of cheap tires, takes offs are $100 each here in S. Florida--lottsa H2's running around). The wheels REALLY made a difference in the truck. I did have to remove 1.5" from the front air dam to clear the tires, but other than that, no rubbing whatsoever.

Now the driveline vibration is completely gone, so I guess it was a combination of the lift and the stock wheel/tire package.

As for the kit being "cheap", other than the rear block being too small, I'm happy with the kit. No bump steer and no peculiar noises from the spings. I have about 5k on them now. I looked at the more expensive kits, and the Pro COmp kit seemed to meet my needs best.
