tranny slip?

well everyone today i was going up a hill empty and my tranny slipped going from 2'd to 3'd i think.........when i bought truck guy said tranny had been replaced. checked my tranny fluid, its full and dosent smell burnt. what should i be looking for or checking? and what can i do to fix it? all my truck info is in my profile....thanks everyone

anyone have any ideas? its been shifting hard once in a while too........it shifted hard then slipped for like 3 seconds...........

also how do i know if the tranny has been replaced? was the guy just bs me?...that'd be just my luck, i noticed uit shifting harder progressivly, but for a 92 i expected it......please some advise people i feel my hair getting greyer over this

Count the number of pan bolts. If 14 it is an AOD, if 17 it is a C6, if 20 it is an E4OD.

You likely have either the 4R70w or E4OD both of which are completely computer controlled so I'd suggest you pull the codes.

how do you "pull" codes? what do i need to do this, and where do i know what these codes mean

Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test Here is a link on how to get any trouble codes, ignore the bit about wiring in a meter or test light if your Check Engine Light is working. If you look at the list on the right side of that page you will be able to click on a list of what the codes mean.
If you do have an E4OD then it is well worth checking for trouble codes.

can i pull codes even if there is no check engine light on? and is there a tool to get this instead of watching blinks?

awsome idea about lucas!!!! my tranny fluid is full, how do i got about adding thid to my tranny fluid w/o over filling???

Pulling the pan does seem a little overkill to just add some Lucas, maybe a long thin piece of tubing down into the dipstick to siphon some out? Wouldn't take much... I get to do the same thing pretty soon so let me know what ends up working best for you if you don't mind. Thanks.
