I'm looking at getting new wheels/tires for my truck as well. I've been looking at getting Cragar Soft 8's or Series 342 D Windows.
I also have dual piston calipers up front (78 F250 4x4). How big is the clearance issue? I mean how much would I have to shave off the caliper to get 16"s on there? Am I definitely going to have to go with 17" s?
I'm looking to run tires anywhere from 31"-35" by the by
Well like I said I am running bfg's on 16.5 wagon wheels and there is less than 1/4" of clearence. Personally I do not like the idea of grinding down the calipers at all, let alone another 1/4 to 1/2" I know alot of people have but I don't trust it... But that's me. I figure 17" wheels will give me a good 1/2" of clearence and with big meats would look fine, but I would not go any less than 35's or it may look s***ty.
Yeah I definitley don't like the idea of grinding em down either. Seems like a kind of a shady "mod". I was thinking 17" s too.
You say run 35's, but do you know if those will fit stock on a open knuckle 4x4? I read somewhere that up to ____ will fit, but I can't remember if that blank is a 33" or a 35"
0you can get the hummer tiress in 37 or 36 or most tires like super swampers have 16.5 personally i want to keep my vintage aluminum rims so i am going with the 37 hummer tires.. 100 dollars a piece

I am not sure, I have open knuckle hp 60s. I have stock suspention and can fit 35s with no troubles, I can turn from lock to lock with no rubbing, oh my truck is a 79. What year is your truck?
I am not sure what the back spacing is on the wheels, if the where not on the truck I would measure them for you and see but with 12.5" tires the are pretty much flush with the fender. Oh and yeah on the 250...

why would you be considering grinding down the calipers?
16's normally will fit
all of us with F250's have dual piston calipers, right?
and 8lug wheels are made for 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks
Ya I will see what I can do, I have never posted pictures up and am kind of a shidiot when it comes to computers but I'll try and I'll try to take a pic of the clearence from caliper to rim...

not all 16's will have less clearance than 16.5's
all 8 lug wheels are designed to go on 3/4 ton trucks
