Well like I said I am running bfg's on 16.5 wagon wheels and there is less than 1/4" of clearence. Personally I do not like the idea of grinding down the calipers at all, let alone another 1/4 to 1/2" I know alot of people have but I don't trust it... But that's me. I figure 17" wheels will give me a good 1/2" of clearence and with big meats would look fine, but I would not go any less than 35's or it may look s***ty.

Yeah I definitley don't like the idea of grinding em down either. Seems like a kind of a shady "mod". I was thinking 17" s too.

You say run 35's, but do you know if those will fit stock on a open knuckle 4x4? I read somewhere that up to ____ will fit, but I can't remember if that blank is a 33" or a 35"

MUD, I'm guessing you have a F250 then too? How much backspacing do you have on your current wheels with the 35's?

I'm looking at running as close to 0 backspacing as possible. I don't really dig the sticking out wheel look.

I am not sure what the back spacing is on the wheels, if the where not on the truck I would measure them for you and see but with 12.5" tires the are pretty much flush with the fender. Oh and yeah on the 250...

Oh no worries. Do you mind taking a picture of your truck so I can see what it look like with 35's?

why would you be considering grinding down the calipers?

16's normally will fit
all of us with F250's have dual piston calipers, right?
and 8lug wheels are made for 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks

not all 16's will have less clearance than 16.5's
all 8 lug wheels are designed to go on 3/4 ton trucks

I wouldn't be worried about the brake clearance

exactly !!!

the F350's and F250's had the same brakes back then

it's always a god idea to "Test fit" a wheel before mounting the tires
and to "Test fit" a mounted wheel/Tire combo up front before mounting all four
