strait 6 or v8?
hey guys I just got a 1990 f-150 4 inch suspension lift 3 inch body lift. with 33's the motor is strait 6. tranny 5 speed. the truck i got for 350. the bad part about it is there was a barn roof that fell in on it. now i gotta get a new body for it (bed can be fixed) my question is should i just try and find another body with a V8 and install like a 351Wfuelinjected motor in it or should i just change cab and front clip and keep the strait 6? In order to run my truck on the road and mud with it i gotta make sure that the title and motor match because of emissions. so let me know what you guys suggest.

That is what i was leaning towards but with emissions i am going to have a find a cab and front clip with title to match the vin and be fore a V-8 motor so i can put it together and it will pass emissions. (if i were to use my title now and put the v-8 in probably wont pass emissions). that is what sucks about emissions...

I would swap a new cab on, switch over the vin tags, and be done with it. As much as I love the big V8 power in my Bronco, I hate feeding it. I'd have the 300 six over any V8 any day for a driver. It really depends on how you plan on using the truck, for a toy I'd say go V8; for a driver go I6.

I have a i6 in my DD but when it comes to my toy.... its a BBF theres no replacement for displacment when it comes to having fun in my mind BUT my i6 gets 17mpg my bbf got gallons to the mile granted it werent stock

Plain vanilla 300 that starts every time you turn the key is nice. With the amount of work involved in swapping in a v8 I'd just stick with what you have and put that money into important things like tires and gears. But if you go the v8 route do everything while the cab is off and it'll be way easier then turning around a year later and pulling everything apart again. If it's factory I'd just let it be and not mess around with wiring.
