From my own experiences the inline sixes always seem to perform better with a manual trans behind them and at least a 3.55 R&P... depending on tire size of course. Gearing is key to making the I6 run. Like I said, I love the V8 power but I hate the V8 appetite.
trust me guys i know what you guys mean. i love the power and sound from the v8. i do have a good running 351W out of a 93. still in truck. also all of the wiring. i would use that cab and all on my truck but its a extended cab truck and my truck i am building is a normal cab. (probably somewhere in the vin or on the door jam tag it probably says its a extended cab. if it wouldn't i would use title tags but a 93 cab and use the extended cab's front end and wiring. (the extended cab's cab is rusted pretty bad in floor) plus if i used the cab i would have to lengthen the frame. what do you guys think? i mean i can get normal cab for hundred use my wiring from the extended cab truck and motor.
in the 50's when Cadillac introduced their overhead valve V8 engine, the straight 8 became old news. while they were torque monsters, they were low hp. and just like today, everyone thinks it is all about hp and not torque.
like the ricers. "my 4 cylinder V-tec makes 800hp"
big deal. my 7.3 diesel makes 195 hp, and 500 lbs torque. it will drag your 800 hp 50 lb torque rice burner around the block sideways, uphill, and never even work hard enough to puff black smoke.
