Well it started as a good day, then...PUFF! Driving home from church today, the wife's '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee gave up the ghost...we were driving up the interstate and it went POOF! Engine shut off, smoke poured out of the tail pipe...Pulled over and popped the hood, and the whole engine was smoking...it has almost 300,000 miles on it, just stinks, now to find extra money for a new/used vehicle...
That does stink. You thought about changing out the engine??
Yeah, but for the price it would cost, I think I'm gonna try to sell it as a parts vehicle, or sell it off for scrap. I talked to a mechanic friend and he said from everything I described to him, he would almost guarantee that it blew a hole in a Piston...it will start, but smokes solid white smoke when it turns over...he told me in parts alone, and with it having close to 300,000 miles, I would have to rebuild the whole thing or buy a wrecked one and use the engine...at this point I don't have the time to find a decent one and replace the engine, or the funds...we stopped at a buddies car lot this evening and the wife saw a nice mini van she liked, so we are going to talk to them on Tuesday, and see what we can get worked out...
It's just life I guess...stinks (as stated earlier)...but it has been a great vehicle...we have had it for over 6 years, and it has made it from Alabama, to Michigan, to West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, All over the Southeast...pulled, towed, been up, down, all over...it did very well...guess it just finally got tired...
Without a doubt...it has been an excellent vehicle...looking at a Dodge Caravan with the Sport package...wife likes it best...we do a lot with the kids at school, so space and seating is plus...
I mowed the lawn today, put another coat of paint on that living room door (The painting is almost done, one piece at a time!) and that's about it. Headed to have a fun day on the Coosa River in the morning. Gonna go out with the wife and friends on the boat, do some swimming, and get some sun. The farmer's tan is NOT very striking..
Also, I need to clean up the 2003 GT convert we have so we can sell it. The sooner I sell it, the sooner we can pay off some bills and I can finally get my welder!
