can anyone please clarify what size of trucks these are. Im pretty sure the f-1, m-1 and m-100 are 1/2 ton but not sure what the f-47's are. and what do the names mean?
Prior to 1951, Canadian truck designations followed their GVW ratings. The F-47 was 4700 gross vehicle weight. That became the F-1 and later the F-100, or what we now call a half ton pickup. There was the F-68 one ton(6800 gvw) which became the F-3, (Canada skipped the F-2) and so on up the line with F-105 1 1/2 ton(F-4) F-135 2 ton(F-5) F-155 3 ton(F-6), etc. Mercurys were M instead of F, but everything else was the same.
I haven't run across any of those names before - must be specific to Canada. I would guess they are names of aftermarket or factory-authorized mods like Marmon-Herrington 4x4 units here.
Delisle is a town in Saskatoon, "Stoon" is apparently a local abbreviation of Saskatoon. Lumsden is likewise a town in Saskatoon. Are the trucks somehow tagged with these names?
