E bay Injector o rings

Well After moving and getting settled in to the new house I figured I would try out the new garage and pull my Injectors to send to Jim to get rebuild because I was sure mine were screwed, well I pulled them out and to my surprise found that every one had been leaking hp oil past the pink O rings keep in mind that I just changed these about a year or so ago I purchased them from E bay .So Saturday morning I headed down to International and bought all new O rings kinda pricey but I had to try just to see what would happen. After getting it back together and driving it for 100 miles to work the air out my truck runs better than it ever has! I don't know if I installed them wrong the first time or the o rings were just junk, when I compared the ones from E bay to the ones from International the only difference was the copper washer other than that they were pretty much the same. So I am curiose has anyone had any bad experiences with these O rings from E bay?

Thanks
Walter

Try and stay away from eBay when you can. There is a reason that companies like Rosewood and I only carry OEM. Plus when you have questions you can call and get help, that's what we are here for.

Having said that it sounds like maybe you had an install error on the first set.

Yes you are prob right about that when I installed the first set I thought I did everything right but prob goofed up because I was in a rush I didn't have a garage and was using our shop at work and the truck had to be out by the morning so chances are I did screw up. thanks for the offer of help and guidance I would have liked to buy these parts from a sponsor like you or Jim but as you can see I live way up in Canada and the shipping and crap that I have to deal with is just not worth it to me and besides no disrespect but I like to keep my money in our community if I can, that being said I have not bought anything from E bay for some time now and will steer away from it for now on I was only going to spend the cash for a rebuild from Jim because there is no one in my area that does this kind of work and his price verses a new set around here was way less than half.

Thanks for the reply and expect to here from me if I run into any kind of problem like this again.

Walter

There are many place on eBay NOT to buy o-rings from as they are most likely aftermarket due to their low cost.
however, Angelo is a very reputable Alliant Power Dealer. If your o-rings were from him, they would be AP, just like the thousands that I use every year.

How can you guys have bad AP rings after 1 year?

Also, Waljon, what do you mean the copper washers were different?

I'm not 100% sure why mine are smoked but I'm ire that whole grenading injector nozzle fiasco isn't help, I took each injector in and out at least 2 times, even after lubing generously I must have jacked up up somewhere along the line?

Jim the copper washers from E bay had no groove in them they were flat ,the ones from International had a groove in them and also fit more snug around the tip of the Injector, the ones from E bay were sloppy and didnt want to stay on.

I could have got a bunk set but ? they were Alliant O rings so I assumed that was the way they were supposed to be.

Don't get me wrong I am not trying to bash this guy on E bay I bought a few other things from him with no troubles.

Yeah, I'd say you got a bum set somehow.
They need to have that groove to crush properly and seal.
I've never seen that from an AP, or other, o-rings.

guys the o-rings that I had ordered off of ebay - came from diesel care performance out of Memphis, TN. I had also ordered 4 injectors from them. 1 of the 4 injectors is miss firing and I have already had to replace all the o-rings. The o-rings I ordered from them blew out when I replaced the HPOP. Put motocraft o-rings in there and have not had a problem since (except with a slight miss from the one injector) and that was 10k ago. Plan on replacing all injectors now with stage 1's. CCarrier told me to call Rosewood and they could hook me up. Planning on doing that here in the next week or two.

LOL yeah for sure but I learned a lesson one I should have learned years ago when my parents tried drilling it in my head "when something seems too good to be true then usually it is"

Sorry I took so long to reply I have been out of town working that happens some times LOL.
