IP leaking problems

Hi,

I am an newbie of Diesel vechile. I found the diesel leaking from my 1994 E350 with 7.3L IDI recently. Finally, I observed the leakage from throttle shaft and the plunger area of Injector pump.

I have watched some thread here, we can replace the O-ring of throttle shaft at the injector pump in vechile. Are there any one could update me the O-ring size ? I need get them before start of open the pump.

Could anyone update me how to fix the leaking at the plunger? Could it be fixed at the IP in vechile ?

Thanks

Walter

I was under the impression that the plunger requires IP removal, but I've been wrong before.

I think your saying the throttle pin Oring is leaking at the top of the fuel bowl and the advance arm seal on the bottom drivers side. If the IP is old I would just replace it....

Both items can be replaced, but in vehicle would be difficult for shadetree mechanics. I do not have a size sorry.....

My usual reply is it is much safer to take any internal IP work to a professional at an injection shop.

A part in the wrong place could mean engine damage and possible bodily harm when it explodes.

I know that is a worst case scenario, but a run away engine with no governor control and no fuel shut off is very possible.

Hi,

My IP was rebuild three years ago in a authurized dealer.
The replacement of two O-ring on the throttle shaft seems simple.
My concern is the leaking at the plunger.

Another question is the interchangeble between DB2 5028 and 5013.
As I know 5028 is for MT while 5013 for AT.
However can I use the 5028 with AT? can the E40D FIPL be mount to 5028?

Thanks

Probably an easy swap, but may need to reuse some parts from the old IP, namely the FIPL bracket and also the duckbill that mounts on the shaft and drives the FIPL.
