the lady working at dennis carpenters in charlotte told me that i could get up to $1500 bucks for my 68 ranger grill.... i think she is full of it!!! my grill is in good but not perfect shape someone has removed the red stripe in center and tried to polish it but only scrached it up a lil i have a grill of of a 72 that i could put on if the price was right and someone wanted to buy my grill but that number sounded extremely high to me.... are the 68 69 grills that rare!!!! she did say that mr carpenter was actively trying to make a mold from a grill he bought so there may be a reproduction in the making
Rare only because their not being reproduced. There's still plenty around. A complete polished grille like you speak of with Ranger emblem can get you $300.00 to $500.00 It all depends on who wants it and what there willing to pay. A grille that has the red paint by itself (Just the shell no emblem) can bring you $150.00 and up. No one is willing to spend what she claims. I saw a NOS 69 ranger grille still in the box sell for just over $800.00

Yes, they are pretty rare. No reproductions as of yet. Ive seen chrome grills with some scrathes and a couple of dents go for $300-$350 or a little more on ebay. Like anything else, its worth only what someone is willing to pay for it......I took and had my original grill polished and it looks brand new to this day, and that was 13 years ago! I have a 1969 Ranger grill in storage that I snagged up while I had the chance. Maybe I could get some big bucks out of it if they said they could get that much out of one.....maybe I should give her a call, LOL!
@ william hey man my truck is just like yours.... only with a old in need of attn. paint job lol i bought mine because a friend in high school had a 69 ranger 3 on the tree that someone put a 289 in and it was awesome he traded it for a toyota 4 x4 in 94 and they only gave him 500 bucks on trade in..... i was supposed to buy it fom him and so now we are no longer friends!!!! lol that was 18 years ago .... do i hold a grudge or what! but really i loved that truck.... i begged him and he let me take it to prom
william i just checked out your gallery super nice truck!!!! i thought someone had painted my truck because of the red interior but i guess that was the factore scheme black truck red interior?

Cool story! I bought mine from the original owner about 15 years ago. When I was 16 I helped the guy that painted this truck put the bed back on it when the original owner had it painted. I wanted this truck because I knew it was a low mileage show truck, so when I found out the owner was selling it, I jumped on it! Ived owned several of these trucks in the 68-72 era....(5 of them total), and I think they are one of the best body style trucks ford ever made. Of course I lean more towards the original look myself, but everyone has different tastes.
gangstakr, thats a nice looking grill! The one I have is not quite as good as yours, but mine came off of a low mileage truck that a local owner took off of his 69 ranger and put on a 70 ranger grill because he thought they looked better than a 69 grill. I like the full chrome look on the front alot better myself. Mine just has a few minor scracthes that could be buffed out pretty easy but I chose not to touch it. So Im curious as well what you could get out of it, but like you said above, $800 would be tops and thats for someone who really needed it for an NOS built truck. I have a set of 70-72 NOS ranger xlt side moldings on ebay right now that Im asking $650 for and it hasnt had any bites as of yet. The economy sucks right now so things arent exactly selling right now either.
yea my grandaddy had a bumpside when i was just a youngen i always wanted that truck but it sat in the drive way and rotted after he passed away and i was too young to drive so some lucky guy came by for several years wanting to buy it and after several years my aunt said if you get it out of here its yours... after a couple of hours of working on the old truck he fired it up and drove it home..... broke my heart!!!! so when this 68 came my way around 10 years ogo i jumped on it blindly... after the 3 on tree went out and i was working 80 hrs a week for 3 or 4 years it just sat behind my father in laws pole barn and waited for me to get off my butt and do something with it. it had new motor alt. starter. universals radiator flex fan distributor plug wires coil and a 3 speed floor shifter sitting in a box in the back. edelbrock performer intake and 750 edelbrock carb chrome valve covers and breather. lucky i had a camper shell setting on it im sure it saved my bed from the rust monster. anyways now the 3 speed is in the floor and the new old motor is purring like a kitten. new brake drums shoes and springs on back so far. now for the body
Yes, mine is black on red. The only thing I dont like is the orginal owner sat in the seat with a screwdriver in his back pocket and put a hole in the original seat so he covered the seat in red diamond tuck cloth and did the door panels and headliner to match. I have the original door panels and I bought a repo seat cover but I havent changed it over yet, Im not in much of a hurry Mine also still sports the original VA tags that was put on the truck in 68 with the orginal metal decal that is at the top of the front plate that you can see in my gallery. You dont see too many of those metal county decals anymore! Post some pics of your truck, I would like to check it out.
yea i gotta wash the 5 years of pollen off of it first and take the butt ugly camper shell off first!!! it has all my spare parts and sprays and tools in it now so i can just go by and work on it lil by lil after work when my son dosent have baseball nor my daughter have t ball..... daddy needs some truck days on the calander!!!
