i am working on my 68 ranger it has small dent on front pass fender and door. a guide wire went into the seam between the 2 and when it got pulled off of wire it bent them both i picked up a 72 front clip today and im wondering what to do.... should i replace passenger fender with 72 and fill in the holes for the molding and buy new molding and clips for that fender and door or just weld up all the holes and sell what good 1 1/4 molding i have left i guess i will probablysell the 72 grill and radiator supports aswell..... ineed opinions!

Confused I am; why would you not just repair what you have if it's a 'small dent'?

the dent is in the bump i have alot of tools but not alot of knowledge available in regards to body work my inner fender is rusted badly from old battery acid and the 72 clip inner fenderr is in great shape. i also needed the grill skirt because whoever had the truck before me broke the bumper and welded it on top instead of inside i also got a bumper when buying the front clip when i slid off the road in ice storm i was moveing very slow and bumped the power pole and that broke the weld on bumper and dented the skirt above it. being a parts changer more than a mechanic i figured i could swap out dented parts easier than and better than bondo. the grill is in great shape on my truck and on the front clip i bought this morning.
i figure it will be very hard to find the 2 pieces of molding i need to get it all back together since its the 1 1/4 and i wouldnt want shiny new on only 2 spots and the rest 44 years old
Got it; more to the story than the damage to door/fender. Repairs at the edges of contoured parts can be a real bear, too. I don't know much about the various moldings that went on the different years so I can't help you there. I was only asking about the '72 grill because I could be interested in a spare if one in really excellent condition wandered by at the right price.
well i was going to ask 150 for it on craigslist because i plan on buying a passenger door too since the paint is old on the whole truck i dont care if it is miss matched paint. there are doors on there now at that price shipping may be the killer if u are in the north west though im in north carolina. i paid 300 for front clip and bumper because the guy didnt want to sell me only passenger inner and outer fender and grill skirt and bumper
