I was on the highway and the truck lost all power. i had no idea what was wring but it was acting like it wasn't getting fuel. when it was up on the flat bed we noticed fuel was leaking from the top of my front tank. I was wondering what that most likely is i havn't dropped the tank yet but i want to know what i might be getting myself into
Sounds like your fuel line has either a crack or a break in it somewhere, the lift pump is probably throwing out all the fuel onto the outside. Dropping the tank, can be a PITA, You have to drop the straps and unbolt it then repair the lines where its broken or something.
I'll second a fuel line problem. You should be able to see the lines no problem without touching the tank. The sender is located at the passenger side of the tank, and is accessible with the tank in place. However, its not much access... and the driveshaft is in the way, but you should be able to see whats going on without having to drop the tank. If the lines are ok, the tube coming out of the sender could have rusted through, someone else on here just had that problem.
Aune163rd, the fuel pump is at the engine, not in the tank. So a broken line will cause it to suck air, not dump fuel. A leak in the return line will cause it to dump the fuel, but will have no affect on engine power.

See i knew that. My fathers has a pump in the tank. I remember that because i had to help him pull that out. But you do have a point on the sender, It could have rusted through and broken off somewhere.
well guys it was none of that and i feel like a real idiot. Blueovalbud called me up and gave me a few things to looks for and while i was going down the check list i noticed one of the wires going to my IP was all messed up i fixed it and plugged it back in and she started right up.
I guess when your pissed off on the side of the highway you miss the simple things.
Thanks for all the input though guys
