Unfortunately, He is most likely deceased, that is not nice country to be lost in winter weather with out the proper gear..........from what I heard she was a couple days from death herself.
Very sad episode..........They must have used map quest and got lost.
Mapquest in the Pacific Northwest in winter, is a good way to find out if your fellow passengers are good to eat.
We hear the same story over & over, they were using a GPS or whatever & got lost.
It amazes me how far people will go off the beaten track until they get lost, wow thats
scarry.
People rely on those things to much & they forget about common sense.........
I know the GPS is forever trying to take the wrong route, look at a map if you don't know where your going and at least familiarize yourself with the area your going to.
We had a Cali couple get lost in the snow up in the coast range using mapquest, he hiked out and died of exposure, she lit the subaru outback on fire in desperation, and some one saw the smoke...........If there is snow over the road or no signs of recent traffic, TURN AROUND!

I quit taking the GPS for trails, I use these paper things you stop and spread out on the hood, think they are called maps..........US forest service GIVES them away at ranger stations.
Up here they do it on snowmobiles, they get lost & keep going until they run out of gas or hit open water, so they freeze to death, no common sense.
All the money in the world cant help if you wont use your head............
