That gunk is not uncommon. Clean it up real good. Change oil after you get it back together as a lot of stuff will get knocked loose. Is this the stock intake? It's a heavy one. Be sure to seal the front and back intake gaskets with a lot of sealer as they are prone to leak there. And make sure the bolt surface on the valve covers are flat as well. If stock valve covers are used they bend easy from over tightening and tend to leak as well.
thank you for the tips.i clean it up but good. not a spot left on it.i spent the whole day cleaning, sanding or wirewheeling everything i could get off the motor.now that i am this far in to it i am thinking about doing the cam. any one i should look at? R.V. is what iam using the truck for.
I would love that boat trip. Made it to Juneau, Sitka and that area lots of times. BUT can't even afford the gas to launch it and tie to the dock yet. And the skiff is only a 50 hp. I aint even gonna try ta get the 22 foot with the Windsor going this season. Aint noone got any money to charter it. And the last gas I bought was $3.65 a Gallon. Next week with the new fuel drop it will be $4.25. Time ta get a Kayak.
It's $4.20 in Craig right now. I get mine from the Kasaan Village bulk plant. They buy 5000 Gallons at a time and sell it for just above cost. Like I said the next dump will be around $4.25. Still a lot cheaper than town (as it will be over $5.00 by then) but to damn much to try and run the boats. Life is a sunny beach than the tide comes in.
