1993 Explorer Sport 2D I am trying to replace the power window motor but can not get to the last bolt/screw. I have taken out two bolts and poped out the three rivets. There is one more bolt that I can not get to. I have a Haynes manual (P.O.S.) and of course it does not have anything about it.
The motor will not budge. Any ideas???
If it is anything like my old Marquis I had, you have to drill a hole large enough to get a nutdriver or ratchet extension through.
The factory actually went so far as to put a "ding" mark with a punch to show you exactly where to drill.....Profanity Removed!!..... if they could do that, why didn't they just go ahead and drill the damn hole ??!!
You know I saw that ding and was thinking this might be the way but I had the other side replaced a few months ago by a shop and they didn't drill to replace it.
I was thinking there was probably some sort of special tool but I can't see the harm in putting a hole there
Worked on my new 93 explorer this weekend. Need help with removing power window regulator. Drilled holes and can remove the motor which works fine. I suspect the plastic gear is stripped. How do I remove it? Drill out rivits? replace with what? A local salvage yard sells the gear for $25 new !!! I wanted to see how is it removed then replaced before I buy it. Any help?
I just bought a re-built one at the local auto parts place. The re-build kit wasn't much cheaper than getting the whole motor, but my motor was bad, not the gear.
