and good morning. Thanks MrMajestyk for the marti report info!
Hope everyone has a good monday.
Did Ford ever make 4x4 camperspecials in the early 70s?
I have seen some 78 -79s...
Just wondering, since a buddy of mine picked up a chevy..(i know...) 77 silverado camper special 4x4 3/4 ton. He's trying to convince me that the GM camper specials are hardier since they have a higher gvw. I think his has a 8600 lbs gvw, and they can be found stock 4x4, not some owners garage creation.
Just wondering, since a camper special is on my list, and a 4x4 one would be even better! Thanks again for the info. Have a great day!
Matt, I personally would take a 77 Chevy 4x4 CK2500 over a Ford in those years. For one Ford had only the 360 in 4x4. Chevy 350s were far better in fuel mileage & performance. To put a 454 in them was a matter or swapping out the engine.
I owned a 79 CK2500 4x4 that went 350,000 miles on the original engine, & original drive-train. I went everywhere a friend of mine went that had a 79 F250 4x4. My Chevy was faster & better mileage than his 400. Both were 4 speeds, he ran 3:55 & 3:73s.
I know nobody wants to hear this on a Ford Forum but Oh well.
Cool enough to do some yard work and wash the truck this evening.
100's are just around the corner.
I know. But on the bright side for me, that means I will get to look for rattlesnakes in the evening rather than the heat of the day! The heat of the day is too much for them, and the diural species, become nocturnal to avoid the heat.
Also, I do free reptile removals too, if anyone gets an unwanted critter in their house!

Matt
me too, I removed (remodeled) a snake on Sunday and another one on Monday. they should learn not to lay on the road when I am driving.

Well, since you are up north, they are laying on the black top to warm up so they can catch/ digest food.
Sometimes you can't avoid things on the road safely,... but then again, there are the sick twisted people that go out of their way to run over living things for "fun". Those people, should be shot in the genitalia... for "fun".
