Ringgold, GA has been wiped out, just about. One exit at I-75 has had nearly every building destroyed.
Apison, Lookout Valley,Harrison and other communities in this area were all hit by tornadoes...some got hit TWICE in the same 24-hour period. FEMA has 6 different field offices set up in the area, and the Red Cross is begging for monetary donations, water, blankets and generators. I just gave to Blood Assurance, as they are critically low on just about every blood type.
On a personal note, I lost about $1200.00 in food and 2 computers were zapped. (The surge protector cords didn't fare too well, either.) Compared to others, I am blessed. We have gathered all our extra blankets and never-worn clothes and donated them. It's not much, but about all we can do at this point. On the job, I have been going to the hard-hit neighborshoods and making sure that everyone is still safe, and that they are getting the help that they need. So many have had trees fall on their houses, and yesterday's rain damaged even more of their belongings. It can be disheartening to see some of the elderly folks who have lost so much, who have little or no family to help them. I know that West TN is flooding and will also need help, so anyone who can give to the Red Cross of Tennessee, Alabama or Georgia will be helping out people who are in dire straits.

Mac, we have an area that is about wiped out too. Farming comunity, Camp Creek. There are stories of horses that had all of their legs cut completely off by flying tin from roofs. Cows walking around with tobacco stakes sticking out of them everywhere. People were sucked out of their houses thru the windows and woke up when they landed in the yard.
The devastation these storms left is terrrible. We had 5 confirmed tornados in this area. One was an F3.
The storm from Ringgold came up through here also..I live 0.1 tenth of a mile from where it came through..We are blessed to be here and no damages..The one here was an EF-4 with 170 mph winds...It was half a mile wide and did damage for 35 miles(I think it stayed on the ground from Ringgold). In Cleveland only,we had 6 total through out the day..
Ringgold is really bad.We use to live there. We saw it when we went through on Sunday.
Our thoughts and prayers is with all who lost family friends and homes through out the south. It is a day I will never forget.
