My neighbor's house has many solar collectors mounted on his roof.

Unfortunately my ridge line is north-south so its a no-go for solar.

I'm down in a bowl so I don't have wind exposure.

At best I can tap the ground water table (pond across the street) and go geothermal with a heat pump and cut my air conditioning bills.

But all is wishful thinking if I loose the house due to the job market.

Today's job fishing expeditions produced two nibbles.

One is offering $16.12 minus union dues out in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington; by the time I pay rent and food in those cities there won't be any money left to send back home to keep the mortgage going.

The other is a returning prospect, working DEA aircraft over in Afghanistan as a crew member. Good money to line the pockets of my body armor and its the job I'd rather have too.

We got a ton of chipmunks in the yard now ever since the outdoor cat died. Used to be nothing around in our yard, or the neighbors!

I have a bunch more, I was looking into micro hydro a long time ago to power the family cabin.
Very informative reading.. we have a pretty decent sized stream in our back yard, could probably produce a good amount of power. But then again its town property and they didnt even like when i put up a bridge across it made out of wood. They took it... lol. so i made another

Good morning guys.

Miles when I built about 11 years ago I put it a geothermal heat pump and it has been the beat investment I ever did.
It runs GREAT and is very cheap to run.

Rich you take a 5 gal pal and fill it 1/2 with water. then you cover the top of the water with sunflower seed.
You put it next to a rock, stump, or make a ramp.
They climb in thinking they have hit mother load of seed and never come out.
I don't like doing it but they are getting VERY destructive.
They are digging under my driveway and making pot holes, I don't have the $ to pave it again.
