I'm sure everyone has heard about the tornado that tore through Joplin last night. As of 0600 this morning local authorities are reporting 89 casualties. I know the two "jobs" we have a work that either go to or work in Joplin were both annulled last night/today. I'm sure it's going to take them several days just to get the bottom of the mess; but hopefully they'll only find survivors from this point on.
I have 2 friends that live in Joplin, both lost houses, vehicles and teardrop campers to the tornado From what I have seen on the news, it is a wonder there weren't more casualties.
Morning gentlemen, hope everyone is still above water...for those of us that have seen the 3rd coming of the monsoon.

Depending on which part of Joplin "your" in...some folks are lucky to be alive. Two guys out of the Carthage terminal lost EVERYTHING. One is living out of a Red Cross shelter until he can get something else lined up; the other is using one of our manager's spare rooms. The 2nd guy got quite a few bumps, bruises & scrapes from the debris. Both of these guys lost not only their homes, but cars were totaled as well. Talking to the manager on-duty last night...they had no clue where both of these guys were until late afternoon yesterday when they were able to call & check in. There are no land-lines in service; cell service comes & goes depending on tower traffic. Our tracks don't go through the center of the impact area...but they're just to the north of it, there was sheet metal & insulation from those prefab buildings everywhere. Two different police officers were struck by lighting last night while directing traffic...one was still in critical condition. As of last night, the death total was up to 117; they found 7 victims in a Home Depot...who's concrete walls collapsed during the storm. I forget how many folks are still missing, but it doesn't look good for that area right now. Very trying times in that area for allot of folks.
Another day, another tornado watch. I really need to get a shelter installed, this stuff is just NUTS! I can deal with hurricanes and blizzards, but tornadoes scare the crap out of me.
From what I hear, the east side of Clarksville got hit hard. South of the river around Scranton, we got some trees down, the power lines by the shop I used to work at are down. A storage building is missing 90-95% of its roof. Last I heard, 4 people died last night.

Yeah, it's getting old...just like the snow from this past winter.

I had heard Carbon Plant road which runs south out of Altus....got hit pretty hard. We had some pretty good wind roll through here about 2300-0001. I think it knocked the power out for 8 hours the first time (slept through most of that part). It was back on for about 45 minutes this morning before it went back out for 6 hours. It's been windy around here all day, to the point it was rough to ride the scooter.
