Well Today i figured out it was just my fairly new sending unit that was fouled up, so that's fixed. But i noticed that on the top of carb, say.. front drivers side, on the corner there is some weaping.. where the rod goes into the carb. I'm pretty sure this is the accelorator pump. Also I belive that the motor has been running pretty rich. Could this be a factor? This motor is progresivly getting worse on fuel, an fouling plugs. I don't mean like poor mileage i mean intown driving i would end up with almost a 1km per litre . yeah that bad. How hard is it to rebuild this carb.. maybe i should start there.?
The Edelbrock is the simplest carb to work on. I would check the float level first. These carburetors are pretty much bullet proof and that might be the only problem. You might possibly have a float with a problem. They could be rubbing on the side of the carb, or getting saturated with fuel. The needle and seat could be leaking. It could be a lot of different things, but I would definitely suspect a problem with the float level first.
Edelbrock spec's say no more than 6.5 psi on the fuel pressure. Also the Edelbrock doesn't have a power valve. They use metering rods that are controlled by the vacuum, hence no power valve leakeage. As I said earlier the carb is nearly bullet proof.
..... for some strange reason I read "Edelbrock" and that guy in my mind went and looked up "Holley".
Sorry 'bout that!
Thing is .... I know both carbs pretty well. Must've been tired. Came here tonight and looked at thread title and knew instantly, even before reading your post, I screwed up.
Yeah, NO PV, good carbs, sensative to feul pressure though. I have a new one myself, manual choke. I bought a selection of step up springs and some new alcohol resistant pump pistons.
Do you have a pressure regulator on it?
YOU HAVE TO RUN A PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE EDELBROCK CARB. Your fuel pump will simply blow past the float valve otherwise, hence the flooding and weeping...

Yes ,sorry, this is a I wonder if thats the reason i have allways got bad MPG with my edelbrock. I have used it on different engines with out a regulator and allways got bad MPG. What should the pressure be set at ? Thanks JIM

x2 an on the no powervalve. Ok well thanks, I'll pull'er off an have a look. maybe go buy a rebuild kit or at least price one out. By chance could i be right in thinking its the edelbrock that the floats are usually set to.. 7/16 'th's ? Can't remember , i think i watched a video an they flipped the top part of the carb upside down an set the float that way.
thanks again folks.

Yes, upside down, use a 7/16" drill for a gage.
Here's a link to the owners manual on line .... just 1.8 mb. I was having issues with mine out the box which is why the Holley is back on the truck, bought some tuning parts like springs, etc .... I guess I should reinstall and have another go with it.
